This work is born in March 2014, when at late hours of a wintery night, driving between TelAviv and Yerushalaiim, we are diverted from the blocked freeway to a country road and then get lost in the Magic Mountain (Nes Harim). The night is obscure and the narrow winding road is invisible. But then something in me is switched and as I start watching the dark trees and raise my gaze to their capitulum, I see the top of the trees gleaming and shining. Their dark blackness had such an inner light, brightness, glare and luminosity. An awe moment. The strong impression stayed and I wanted to express it on canvass. A year later, in February 2015, it led to this work.
While working, it dawned on me that night in the mountain was the last time i saw our dear friend Alex, who went away few days before starting the painting, on February 16, 2015. The work came from him and I dedicate it back to him and to the Magic Mountains where our lives have met
